Stock Scenes on the X32

In order to facilitate ease of use and repeatability for the staff at MPAC, several "stock" scenes have been created on the X32 and are available for recall.

Scene 1 - Field Mixer Mode with House PA

This lights up the field mixer for use and fades up those channels on the mixer.

  • Field Mixer is on channels 7 & 8
  • Other wireless mics are on channels 1 through 6
  • Stage Right inputs 9-12 are on channels 9 through 12
  • Stage Left inputs 9-12 are on channels 13 through 16
  • Stage Right inputs 1-8 are on channels 17 through 24
  • Stage Left inputs 1-8 are on channels 25 through 32
  • The CD player is on AUX 1 & 2
  • The MP3 player hookup is on AUX 3 & 4

Scene 2 - Stage (Wide) with Wireless Emcee with House PA

This sets up 24 stage inputs (12 on the left and 12 on the right) and enables the wireless mics back by the mixer.

  • Stage Right inputs 1-12 are on channels 1 through 12
  • Stage Left inputs 9-12 are on channels 13 through 16
  • Stage Left inputs 1-8 are on channels 17 through 24
  • The wireless mics appear on channels 25 through 30
  • The field mixer is on channels 31 & 32, but not linked into a stereo pair; configure the field mixer in stereo mode to separate the two wireless mics for the last pair
  • The CD player is on AUX 1 & 2
  • The MP3 player hookup is on AUX 3 & 4

Scene 3 - Stage (Spread Out) with Wireless Emcee with House PA

This sets up 24 stage inputs and enables the wireless mics back by the mixer. Instead of using 12 channels on either side of the stage, this uses 8 channels out of each of the the three snake heads across the stage.

  • Stage Right inputs 1-8 are on channels 1 through 8
  • Stage Left inputs 1-8 are on channels 9 through 16
  • Stage Center inputs 1-8 are on channels 17 through 24
  • The wireless mics appear on channels 25 through 30
  • The field mixer is on channels 31 & 32, but not linked into a stereo pair; configure the field mixer in stereo mode to separate the two wireless mics for the last pair
  • The CD player is on AUX 1 & 2
  • The MP3 player hookup is on AUX 3 & 4

Scene 4 - All Stage with House PA

This maps all 32 stage inputs to channels on the board. It is possible to manually patch individual wireless mic receivers via the S32 in the amp room for emcee (or other) purposes; however, doing so prevents you from running surround sound at the same time.

  • Stage Right inputs 1-8 are on channels 1 through 8
  • Stage Left inputs 1-8 are on channels 9 through 16
  • Stage Right inputs 9-12 are on channels 17 through 20
  • Stage Left inputs 9-12 are on channels 21 through 24
  • Stage Center inputs 1-8 are on channels 25 through 32
  • The CD player is on AUX 1 & 2
  • The MP3 player hookup is on AUX 3 & 4

Scene 5 - Board Relay Through with House PA

This setup is useful when there is an external mixer (such as a rental) and we want to patch it in to use the house PA system.

  • The wireless mics appear on channels 1 through 6
  • The field mixer is on channels 7 & 8, but not linked into a stereo pair; configure the field mixer in stereo mode to separate the two wireless mics for the last pair
  • Channels 9 through 16 map to the physical inputs 9 through 16 on the back of the mixer
    • Channels 9-12 are configured as monitor feeds 1 through 4
    • Channel 13 is not preconfigured for a destination
    • Channel 14 is configured as a subwoofer feed
    • Channels 15 & 16 are configured as the stereo mains
  • The CD player is on AUX 1 & 2
  • The MP3 player hookup is on AUX 3 & 4

Scene 6 - Movie with Surround Sound with House PA

If the movie is just a stereo track, use Scene 1 above. This scene is for routing discrete outputs from the player device to the individual channels (Left / Right / Center / Rear Left / Rear Right / Subwoofer).

  • The wireless mics appear on channels 1 through 6
  • The field mixer is on channels 7 & 8, but not linked into a stereo pair; configure the field mixer in stereo mode to separate the two wireless mics for the last pair
  • Channels 9 through 14 represent the surround mix and are controlled by DCA 8; plug in the source into physical inputs 9 through 14 on the back of the mixer
    • Front Left - Channel 9
    • Front Right - Channel 10
    • Surround Left - Channel 11
    • Surround Right - Channel 12
    • Center - Channel 13
    • Subwoofer - Channel 14
  • The CD player is on AUX 1 & 2
  • The MP3 player hookup is on AUX 3 & 4

Scene 7 - All Stage with External PA

This is for shows where we use a separate set of mains and subwoofer than the house system. We still use our monitors, however. All settings are like Scene 4 above, but an external PA is configured.

  • External PA Main Left - Output 13
  • External PA Main Right - Output 14
  • External PA Subwoofer - Output 15

Scene 8 - All Stage with External Mains and House Subwoofer

Same as Scene 7 above, but instead of an external subwoofer, the house sub is used instead.

Scene 9 - All Stage and All Front Fill

This on is a pretty unique offering. Here, we have all stage inputs connected (like Scene 4). We're using an external PA or the house PA (power off the amps of the system not in use). We can run both external and house subs for extra punch. Additionally, the four monitor channels are converted for use as a time-delayed front-fill across the middle part of the stage.

This is only possible if the act has brought their own monitor rig and a splitter is in use (or X32/AES50-capable system and we have it daisy chained in).

Scenes 7 through 9 are getting into pretty advanced territory, so we don't expect the regular user to really need them on a normal show that appears on stage. They are mostly there as presets for the professional technicians who typically show up at the time these types of features are called for.
